Born and raised in England, Claire originally trained and worked
as a dancer. She moved into the body-work field in the mid 1980's
as a certified massage therapist, aromatherapist and kinesiologist.
Discovering CranioSacral Therapy (CST) along the way, as part of
her own healing from illness, she has made it the core of her work
for the last 10 years.
Claire
studied CranioSacral Therapy with Dr John Upledger, D.O., O.M.M.,
and Dr John Beaulieu, N.D., PH.D. Her work has taken her to many
locations around the country, including the Upledger Institute in
Florida. Claire participates as a therapist in CST retreats in America
and in Europe, and is looking forward to participating in the Upledger
Institute's new Dolphin-assisted Therapy program in the Bahamas.
Another
recent and important part of Claire's approach to wellness is a
dynamic form of bodywork called Zero Balancing (ZB). Through the
use of skilled touch, ZB balances body energy with body structure,
promoting internal balance and harmony.
Claire
considers that fluid, easy body movement is essential for everyone's
wellness. She is a participant in Mariane Karou's
"Dance
Alive" training, and has studied with movement teacher
Fred Sugerman for a number of years. She has also studied yoga
with respected martial arts and yoga teacher, Matthew Cohen; and
she is a regular meditator with Shawn Randall at the Center
for Personal Transformation. Claire includes elements of all
these techniques in her sessions.
Claire
is a member of the International Association of Healthcare Practitioners,
The American CranioSacral Therapy Association and The Associated
Bodywork and Massage Professionals.
Claire
lives and works nestled in the mountains of Topanga Canyon,
California, enjoying and harmonizing with the beauty that nature
has to offer.
"Lost,
displaced and crazy in my 9th month of pregnancy, Claire soothed,
softened and nurtured me and my babe. In a connection that transcended
physical barriers, she cradled him and allowed for him to begin
his transition into birthing with an innate assurance of safety
and love. After the birth we had a session rooted in strengthening
the bonds between mother and babe, brother and sister, mother
and daughter - benefiting the whole family."
